Earle Page - Earle Page Sir Earle Page Earle Christmas Grafton Page (August 8 1880 - December 20 1961), Australian politician, was the eleventh Prime Minister of Australia. Born in Grafton, New South Wales, he was educated at state schools and the University of Sydney, where he graduated in medicine. He practised in Sydney and Grafton before joining the Australian Army as a medical officer in the First World War, serving in Egypt. After the war he went into farming and was elected Mayor of Grafton. In 1919 Page was elected to the House of Representatives as a candidate of the Farmers and Settlers Association of New South Wales, which in 1920 became the Country Party. He became the party's leader in 1921. Dislike of the Hughes government's rural.

Joseph Lyons - became an active trade unionist and was an early member of the Labor Party in Tasmania. In 1909 Lyons was elected to the Tasmanian House of Assembly. From 1914 to 1916 he was Treasurer (finance minister) and Minister for Education and Railways in John Earle's Labor government. In 1915 he married Enid Burnell, an 18-year old teacher. She was a strong-minded woman who exercised great influence over Lyons, while raising their eleven children. He succeeded Earle as Labor leader and in 1925 he was elected Premier, holding office until 1928. In 1929 Lyons entered Federal politics, winning the seat of Wilmot in Labor's landslide victory under James Scullin. He was appointed Postmaster-General and Minister for Works and Railways. When the Depression struck in 1930, the Scullin government split over its response..
John McEwen - was elected to the House of Representatives for Echuca, switching to Indi in 1937 and Murray in 1949. Between 1937 and 1941 he was successively Minister for the Interior, for External Affairs and for Commerce and Agriculture. In 1940 when Archie Cameron resigned as Country Party leader he contested the leadership ballot against Sir Earle Page: the ballot was tied and Arthur Fadden was chosen as a compromise. When the conservatives returned to office after eight years in opposition in 1949, McEwen became Minister for Commerce and Agriculture again, then Minister for Trade and Industry. He pursued what became known as "McEwenism" - a policy of high tariff protection for manufacturing industry, so that industry would not challenge the continuing high tariffs on imported raw materials, which benefitted farmers but pushed.

John F. Kennedy assassination - a different synchrony on the police-radio audio records to show the National Academy of Sciences panel may have erred, making the shot noises real 'to a 95% certainty'.[1] A BBC/ABC study in 2003 believed that the tape recording was done too far away from the assassination to be useful. A recent analysis sponsored by Court TV, determined that the tape was acutally a recording that took place after the shooting, and that the supposed gunshot sounds did not match test gunshot recordings fired on Dealey Plaza any better than random noise.[1] The Dictabelt recording is a very contested piece of evidence in the Kennedy assassination; studies concluding that the Dictabelt recording was crucial to reach a conclusion, or irrelevant, both exist. Hundreds of studies of the evidence in the Kennedy assassination.

Alexander Hore-Ruthven, 1st Baron Gowrie - the Lyons had no intention of appointing another Australian to the post. Gowrie was a popular if unobtrusive figure in Australia. The days when Governors-General exercised significant power or even participated in negotiations between the Australian and British governments had now passed. Neverthless, Gowrie set a precedent in 1938 when he toured the Netherlands East Indies at the invitation of the colonial administration. This was the first time a Governor-General had represented Australia abroad. In April 1939 Lyons died suddenly, the first time this had happened in Australia. Gowrie commissioned Sir Earle Page, the leader of the Country Party, as acting Prime Minister until the United Australia Party could choose a new leader. This was the only circumstance in which the Governor-General still had some personal discretion. Gowrie's political skills were.
Arthur Fadden - Queensland Legislative Assembly. He was defeated in 1935 but the following year he was won a by-election in the federal seat of Darling Downs. He was blunt, effective debater and soon made an impression. When Archie Cameron resigned suddenly as Country Party leader in 1940, there was a deadlock between Earle Page and John McEwen in the ballot to replace him, and Fadden was chosen as a compromise candidate. He was appointed Minister for Supply and Development, then Minister for Air, then Treasurer (finance minister). In August 1941 Robert Menzies resigned as Prime Minister. The United Australia Party was so bereft of leadership by this time that Fadden was invited to become Prime Minister, although the Country Party was the smaller of the two conservative parties. But the two independent MPs.
Archie Cameron - in rural South Australia. Cameron was an extreme conservative with a violent temper, and not really suited to parliamentary life. But in 1937 he was appointed an assistant minister in the government of Joseph Lyons, and in 1938 he became Postmaster-General. In 1939 Lyons died, and the Country Party leader, Dr Earle Page, refused to serve under his successor, Robert Menzies. The Country Party then rebelled against Page's leadership, deposed him and elected Cameron as their new leader. Cameron then took the Country Party back into the coalition government under Menzies, becoming Minister for Commerce and Minister for the Navy. After the 1940 elections, however, the Country Party tired of Cameron's domineering style, and replaced him as leader with Arthur Fadden. Cameron then immediately resigned from the ministry, and from the.
Stanley Bruce, 1st Viscount Bruce - as the price of joining a coalition government, and Bruce found himself Prime Minister at the age of 40. Bruce's appointment marked an important turning point in Australian political history. He was the first Prime Minister who had not been involved in the movement for federation, had not been a member of a colonial Parliament, and had not been a member of the 1901 federal Parliament. With his aristocratic manners and dress - he drove a Rolls Royce and wore white spats - he was the first genuinely "Tory" Australian Prime Minister. Bruce formed an effective partnership with the Country Party leader, Dr Earle Page, and exploited public fears of communism and militant trade unions to dominate Australian politics through the 1920s. Despite predictions that Australians would not accept such an.
Prime Minister of Australia - Canadian Privy Council and the Cabinet in Canada. The power of the Prime Minister is subject to a number of limitations. If a Prime Minister acts against the interests of his parliamentary supporters he may be removed as leader of his party and thus lose the support of the lower house. If this occurs, he must resign the office or be dismissed by the Governor-General, in accordance with convention. The Prime Minister must receive the support of both houses of Parliament to pass any legislation (though secondary legislation, called Regulations, can be made by ministerial decree). While the Prime Minister normally will have a majority in the House of Representatives, attaining the support of the Senate can be more difficult, since there the Government will often be in a minority. So,.
