Freeware - Freeware Freeware is computer software which is made available free of charge. Typically freeware is distributed without source code. Freeware usually carries a license that permits redistribution but may have other restrictions, such as limitations on its commercial use. The term was coined by Andrew Fluegelman when he wanted to distribute a a communications program named PC-TALK that he had created but did not wish to use traditional methods of distribution because of their cost. Previously, he held a trademark on the term "freeware" but this trademark has since been abandoned. Commercial vendors often release freeware as a loss leader to attract customers to other services or products available for a fee. Others release freeware because other methods of distribution are unlikely to make a profit.

Jollix - Jollix should not be confused with jolix, the freeware Port of the BSD Net/2 system to the Intel i386. Jollix is a free German i686 optimised GNU/Linux distribution in a LiveCD format. Unlike Knoppix, which is based on Debian, Jollix is based on Gentoo Linux. Like Knoppix, Jollix uses KDE for its window manager. When Jollix is installed on a hard disk, it can be updated via portage, the packet manager of Gentoo linux, and it does not require the long configuration that an installation of Gentoo usually requires. Impulse Tracker - was authored by Jeffrey Lim and discontinued after version 2.15. It was available as freeware, though the author supplied extra features (like saving stereo WAV files, possibility to use an IPX network mode) in exchange for some cash. It reigned among the popular trackers of its time including ScreamTracker 3 and FastTracker. Like most MOD editors music is arranged into a grid of channels, each channel containing key-on and optional key-off instructions not unlike MIDI. Visual IRC - Visual IRC Visual IRC (a.k.a. ViRC) is a freeware Internet Relay Chat client for the Windows operating system. Unlike many other IRC clients, nearly all of the functionality in ViRC is driven by the included script, with the result that the program's behavior can be extended or changed without altering the source code. The first incarnation of Visual IRC was a 16-bit application for Windows 3.x. The second incarnation, referred to as Visual IRC '96 (also '97 and '98 as time went on), was a 32-bit application for Windows 9x/NT, featuring an incompatible scripting language, and (in later versions) voice chat and video conferencing. Geodesic dome - greenhouse domes have been constructed by stapling plastic sheeting onto a dome constructed from 1x1s. The result is warm, movable by hand in sizes less than 20 feet, and cheap. It should be staked to the ground, because it will fly away in strong wind. Steel-framework domes can be easily constructed of electrical conduit. One flattens the end of a strut, and drills bolt holes at the needed length. A single bolt secures a vertex of structs. The nuts are usually set with removable locking compound, or if the dome is portable, have a castle nut with a cotter pin. This is the standard way to construct domes for jungle-gyms. Concrete and foam plastic domes generally start with a steel framework dome, and then wrap it with chicken-wire and wire screen.
Ghostscript - Ghostscript Ghostscript is a freeware, but not a freecode, implementation of the Adobe PostScript page description language. It includes functions to generate PostScript for output on a printer or a computer display. Ghostscript offers a high degree of compatibility with the proprietary Adobe Postscript.
