Herman of Carinthia - Herman of Carinthia Herman of Carinthia (Slovene Herman Koroški) Slav Dalmatian (Latin Sclavus Dalmata), was a Slovene (or perhaps a Croatian) philosopher, astronomer, astrologer, mathematician, translator and author, born: circa 1100, probably the Korčula island (today Croatia) or northern (central) Istria, Great Karantania (today Croatia), died: circa 1160. Most likely he went to some benedictine monastic school in Istria. While a youth he lived in France and Spain and got his philosophical and philological knowledge in famous Bernard's and Theodoric's school in Chartres and in Paris between 1130 and 1135.
