Hooliganism - Hooliganism Hooliganism is unruly and destructive behaviour, usually by gangs of young men, its origin is unknown. It is frequently linked in the public mind with the game and support of football clubs. The term has however been widely used since (at least) the 1990s to describe various street gangs of youths behaving indecorously. Hooligans have also attached themselves to other sports, such as rugby and even of recent times cricket. In Canada, crowd violence at hockey games is common, even at schoolboy level, though the term "hooligan" is not generally used. Jewish graves also were vandalized at the Palmiry cemetery near Warsaw, which houses the graves of victims of Nazi executions during World War II. The grave of pre-World War II Sejm speaker Maciej Rataj--a Polish Catholic--also was vandalized in that attack. Within days of the incident, both Prime Minister Jerzy Buzek and Sejm Speaker Maciej Plazynski visited the cemetery and laid flowers on the desecrated graves. In a public address, the Prime Minister criticized the act and stressed that society must do all it can to prevent similar acts in the future. Upper Clyde Shipbuilders Work-in - being 'work-shy' and also wanted to illustrate the long-term viability of the yards. The work-in was led by two young shop stewards, Jimmy Reid and Jimmy Airlie, both of whom were then members of the Communist Party of Great Britain. They ran a well organised campaign in which the shop stewards in each yard remained firmly in charge. Reid wanted to ensure the workers projected the best image of the yard workers he possibly could, and insisted on tight discipline. He famously addressed the workers at the yards where he instructed them that there should be "no hooliganism, no vandalism and no bevvying (drinking)".
