Groklaw - the letter was sent, SCO announced that they would not be mailing invoices. In court filings in December 2003, IBM for the first time recognized the effort of the Groklaw community, by citing them. The media also has taken an interest and Groklaw has been cited in numerous articles covering the court case and is a resource for journalists. Groklaw will provide answers to journalists who need information about the case and don't know where to look to find it. Groklaw derives its power from voluntary efforts of dedicated individuals in a community effort. The efforts of Groklaw are directed at dismantling SCO's allegations, and thus the community is not neutral or NPOV in the sense Wikipedia strives to be. Nevertheless it is not sponsored by any of the interested parties.

Battle of the Coral Sea - Allied point of view, after five months of continuous defeat, a battle that came out almost even was close enough to a victory as not to matter. The seabourne invasion of Port Moresby was averted. Moresby was vital to Allied strategy, and could not have been defended by the ground forces then stationed there. The loss of Port Moresby may well have meant the loss of Australia, and would certainly have been a dreadful blow to the Allied cause. Without a toehold in New Guinea, the subsequent Allied advance, difficult though it was, would have been much harder still. As a result of the Coral Sea battle, the Japanese were forced to attempt taking Moresby overland. The consequent delay was just long enough to permit the arrival of veteran AIF soldiers.

XF-91 Thunderceptor - an interceptor the Thunderceptor was soon eclipsed by designs from other companies, but like the Thunderceptor none of these would go into production. The US Air Force decided to wait the short time needed to introduce newer and much more capable designs created as a part of the 1954 Interceptor project. The Thunderceptor, like the other interceptor designs of the era, had extremely short flight times on the order of 25 minutes, making them almost useless for protecting an area as large as the United States. The 1954 designs outperformed the F-91 in speed, range, loiter time, and included the radar and fire control systems needed for night and all-weather operation. Thomas Stevens - the world through England, France, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Turkey, Armenia, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Hong Kong and Japan. After circling the globe, Stevens returned by steamer to San Francisco, on 24 December, 1886. Stevens' travels through Japan were reported in the Jijishinpou newspaper. Along the way, Stevens sent a series of letters to Harper's Magazine detailing his experiences and later collected those experiences into a book, Around the World on a Bicycle currently available in paperback and is publicly available from the Ibiblio digital library project. The Pope Company preserved Stevens's bicycle until World War II, when it was donated to a scrap drive to support the war effort.
