Kids Incorporated - Kids Incorporated Kids Incorporated (also known as "Kids Inc.") was a children's television program that premiered in 1984 on The Disney Channel. Winner of various Young Artist Awards during its nine year run, it is remembered fondly by adults who were in their teens in the 1980s. The show consisted of a group of young teens (that occasionally shifted every few years as members grew too old to be "Kids" and were replaced) who performed watered-down pop music standards of the era. Along the way, lessons were learned through the conflicts of the kids (e.g. the value of honesty, or why not to cheat on a test.) The show managed to jump start the major careers of several big name stars. Among the primary cast were:.
Jennifer Love Hewitt - time. References to her breasts cropped up in almost all of her print interviews, and at one point inspired the creation of a website devoted solely to them. Like many stars of the late 1990s and early new millennium, Hewitt began her career as a child actor on the Disney Channel. She was a regular cast member of Kids Incorporated, alongside future Black Eyed Peas vocalist Stacy Ferguson. She parlayed this into a recording career before achieving widespread notice with a role on Party of Five. Hewitt has continued to attempt to establish herself as a recording artist, but so far with little success. Following I Know What You Did, Hewitt attempted a prime time television vehicle of her own, Time of Your Life, but it was cancelled after a single.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - Aunt Petunia won't tell Harry who sent it, but says that he must stay. Soon after this, a large menagerie of wizards and witches appear to rescue Harry. They take him to a hidden location in London, where the Order of the Phoenix is stationed. This is the home of Sirius Black's parents, who used various techniques to hide the building, making it ideal for the Order. The Weasleys, Hermione, and Sirius are all living there. Sirius has been ordered not to leave the house because of the Ministry's continued search for him (see Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban for details). Harry is angry about being kept in the dark, and also perturbed by the fact that Ron and Hermione were made prefects while he was not. Everyone explains.
Disneyland - Anaheim, California, created by Walt Disney. Walt wanted to create a kind of family park where kids and parents could have fun together in a safe and clean environment. The original plans called for the park to be built on three hectares (eight acres) next to the Disney studios in Burbank, California where his employees and families could go to relax. After World War II, it became clear that more area would be needed, and in the 1950s, difficulties in obtaining funding caused Walt to investigate other ways of raising money. He decided to use television to get the idea of the Magic Kingdom into people's homes, and so he created a show called "Disneyland." Walt was finally able to acquire about three-quarters of a square kilometer (180 acres) of orange.

The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars - helped to create the sound of glam rock, contributing a heavy metal and folk aspect, respectively, along with Deep Purple's (Deep Purple - 1969) metallic prog rock. Bowie mixed this early combination with the frenetic proto-punk of the Stooges (The Stooges - 1969) and the contemplative, dark and melodic proto-punk of the Velvet Underground (White Light/White Heat - 1967). Dark psychedelia, like the Doors (The Doors - 1967) and early concept albums like Tommy (1969; the Who) influenced the lyrical direction of the album. The influence of Ziggy Stardust within the history of rock music Ziggy Stardust was a monumental album in music history. Its sound has changed the way heavy metal, punk music, hard rock, glam rock and prog rock sound. The direct descendants were later glam musicians like the.
Children's television series - live-action children's programming fell out of style with the network affiliates (who filled the slots with cheaper syndicated programming, or more profitable news shows), the independent stations filled the gap by scheduling cartoons (usually reruns of Saturday morning fare, or public domain copies of old Paramount or Warner Bros shorts) in these afternoon time slots. By the early 1980s, the afternoon time slot was nearly as popular as Saturday morning was, and first-run programming (such as The Transformers and G. I. Joe) began to appear. Even Disney stepped into the fray eventually, premiering their first syndicated cartoon (DuckTales) in 1987. The 1980s and early 1990s also saw the rise of Saturday morning's biggest competition yet: Nickelodeon was the first cable network to cater directly to children, and as it got carried.
The Violent Femmes (album) - when the singer counts up the things that are wrong with his life, as in "1, 1, 1 cause you left me and/2, 2, 2 for my family and/3, 3, 3 for my heartaches" with the tension slowly mounting, then erupting with "8, 8 I forget what 8 was for," bring the Violent Femmes' characteristic humor into the song at its most tense and potentially melodramatic. The Violent Femmes has been called folk punk; it is a amalgamation of multiple influences. The first wave of punk music (bands like the Sex Pistols - Nevermind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols - 1977) had largely ended by 1983. Post punk music had split off into multiple, widely varying genres. The Violent Femmes incorporated influences from several of them, most notably the dark.
TurboGrafx 16 - version of this console, see: PC Engine This sytem would later be marketed by Turbo Technologies Incorporated, or TTi for short, a joint venture between NEC and Hudson Soft. The TG-16 was an 8-bit system (contrary to their misleading ad-campaign), capable of 482 simultaneous colors, released in 1989 in North America. It was in competition with the Sega Genesis. The most notable feature of the Turbografx 16 console was its thin memory card storage medium, similar to that of the Sega Master System. It was also the first console to have a CD-ROM peripheral. Initially, the TG-16 sold well, but there were a lot of bad quality games, such as Keith Courage in Alpha Zones, Impossamole, and Darkwing Duck. Almost all of the TG-16 library was made in the United States,.
Stacy Ferguson - have prompted an emotional crisis, as Stacy has referred in interviews to seeking therapy. She left the group shortly thereafter. Stacy Ferguson was a child actor, and appeared on the television program Kids Incorporated for several years with Renee Sands, who herself would become another member of Wild Orchid. Her well-scrubbed image on that show presents quite a contrast with the ghetto-funk image she has recently begun to cultivate. In July 2003, she had a guest role on the Rocket Power special, Reggie's Big Beach Break, on Nickelodeon, voicing a fictitious pop music star named Shaffika..

Kids in the Hall - Kids in the Hall The Kids in the Hall was a Canadian sketch comedy group, consisting of comedians Dave Foley, Kevin MacDonald, Bruce McCulloch, Mark McKinney and Scott Thompson. It was also the name of the group's television show that ran from 1989-1994 on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. The name comes from a story about the Tonight Show with Steve Allen. Apparently, on his way to deliver a monologue, Allen would pass by up-and-coming comedians who tried to sell him jokes to use that night. These writers were reffered to as "the kids in the hall." Though it was produced by Lorne Michaels, who also produced Saturday Night Live, the show's sketches were more reminiscent of the British sketch show, Monty Python's Flying Circus for they.
Karl Pearson - and Mechanics at University College London. 1891 saw him also appointed to the professorship of Geometry at Gresham College; here he met W.F.R. Weldon, a zoologist who had some interesting problems requiring quantitative solutions. The collaboration, in biometry and evolutionary theory, was a fruitful one and lasted until Weldon died in 1906. Weldon introduced Pearson to Francis Galton, who was interested in aspects of evolution such as heredity and eugenics. Galton died in 1911 and left the residue of his estate to the University of London for a Chair in Eugenics. Pearson was the first holder of this chair, in accordance with Galton's wishes. He formed the Department of Applied Statistics, into which he incorporated the Biometric and Galton laboratories. He remained with the department until his retirement in 1933, and.
Kara-Khanid Khanate - the Muslim Kara-Khanids near Gulja and Kashgar. Enraged, he subjugated Karakhanid states one by one and set up the Kara-Khitan suzereignty in Balasaghun on the Irtysh river, modern day Kazakhstan. The Kara-Khitan Khanate, though harsh on the Muslim Qarluk-Uygurs, did not dispossess all of the Kara-Khanid domains. Instead, the "Khitans" (most of them were actually Naimans, Tanguts and Qarluks speaking the same Turkic language as that of the Kara-Khanids) retreated to the northern steppes and had the Kara-Khanids act as its tax-collectors and administrators on Muslim sedentary populations (the same practice was adopted by the Golden Horde on the Russian Steppes). The Kara-Khitans even incorporated Kara-Khanid Muslim generals such as Muhammad Tai, who surrendered to the Naiman usurper Kushluk at the end of the Kara-Khitan Dynasty. Kushlug, the last ruler of.

In Finland, which had suffered hard from the civil war in the 1920s between white and red (socialist), Kuusinen came to be seen as a traitor also by the socialist side.
