Samael - Samael Samael is an important figure in Talmudic and post-Talmudic lore, a figure who is accuser, seducer, and destroyer. Legends referring to Satan refer equally to him, such that Samael is often taken to be the true or angelic name of the Devil, as opposed to the epithet Lucifer or the job title Satan (Adversary). Samael is etymologized as "the venom of God," since he is sometimes identified with the Angel of death. But the name could also be derived from that of the Syrian god Shemal. Samael is also the name of a black metal band. External Links The Jewish Encyclopedia entry on Samael.
Demon - Hebrew mythology ascribed to the demons a certain independence, a malevolent character of their own, because they are believed to come forth, not from the heavenly abode of God, but from the nether world (compare Isa. xxxviii. 11 with Job xiv. 13; Ps. xvi. 10, xlix. 16, cxxxix. 8). In Jewish rabbinic literature Rabbinical demonology has three classes of, demons, though they are scarcely separable one from another. There were the "shedim," the "mazziḳim" (harmers), and the "ruḥin" (evil spirits). Besides these there were "lilin" (night spirits), "ṭelane" (shade, or evening, spirits), "ṭiharire" (midday spirits), and "ẓafrire" (morning spirits), as well as the "demons that bring famine" and "such as cause storm and earthquake" (Targ. Yer. to Deut. xxxii. 24 and Num. vi. 24; Targ. to Cant. iii. 8, iv. 6;.
Devil - available, and the mythology and customs the Israelites had learnt during their captivity in Babylon had been forgotten. Early Christian tradition interpreted the word and the entire paragraph referring to Satan, his fell of grace, and the moment he was thrown from Heaven, identifying this name with him, and Lucifer became another name for Satan; due to the Christian dogma and popular tradition, so it will remain. But this was not enough. Christian demonologists later turned Satan, Lucifer, and Beelzebub into different entities, with a different rank in the hellish hierarchy. According to who wrote on them, Lucifer or Satan used to be the chief of all demons. Why? There is no answer; nobody gave an explanation for this. Perhaps the fact that many ignorant people (as instructions was uncommon for.
Demiurge - between the overall "creator" and the Demiurge. However, in contrast to Plato, many systems of Gnostic thought present the Demiurge as being antagonistic to the will of the Supreme Creator, the Demiurge being focused solely on material reality and the "sensuous soul". In this context the Demiurge can be characterised as the "Satan" of Gnostic thought. In the Apocrypphon of John (in the Nag Hammadi collection), the Demiurge is characterised as "Yaltabaoth", who proclaims himself as God: "Now the archon who is weak has three names. The first name is Yaltabaoth, the second is Saklas, and the third is Samael. And he is impious in his arrogance which is in him. For he said, 'I am God and there is no other God beside me,' for he is ignorant of his.
Belial - that enter men at birth, the source of impurity and lying, and the spirit of darkness; he will be opposed to the Messiah, bound by him, cast into the fire forever and the souls captured by him will be freed by force from his power (Testament of the Twelve Patriarchs). He is also identified with Samael and called the angel of lawlessness and the ruler of this world, the Earth (Ascentio Isaiæ). Belial is also the seducer who, feigning to be the Messiah, will appear among the Samaritans and lead them into error by means of his power, but will be burnt up by heavenly fire carried along by the sea to the land to destroy his powers (Sibyllines). The Hebrew etymology for his name is confuse. Meanwhile some scholars translate.
Satan - rebellious demon who is the enemy of God and mankind. Satan is generally viewed as a supernatural entity who is the central embodiment of evil. Satan is also commonly known as the Devil, the "Prince of Darkness", Beelzebub, Mephistopheles, and Lucifer. In the Talmud and some works of Kabbalah Satan is sometimes called Samael; however most Jewish literature is of the opinion that Samael is a separate angel. In the fields of angelology and demonology these different names sometimes refer to a number of different angels and demons, and there is significant disagreement as to whether any of these entities is actually evil. In Islam, Satan is known as Iblis, who was the chief of the angels until he disobeyed Allah by refusing to prostrate himself before Adam. Table of contents.
Michael the Archangel - Book of Jude, reference is made to the tradition that Michael guards the body of Moses, to prevent the people from falling into hero-worship. The Book of Revelation shows Michael fighting the seven-headed dragon in a battle in heaven. Michael in Judaism Michael is designated in early Jewish writings, and in the Book of Enoch, as "the prince of Israel". In later Jewish writings, particularly in Kabbalistic works, he is viewed as "the advocate of the Jews." According to rabbinic Jewish tradition, Michael acted as the advocate of Israel, and sometimes had to fight with the princes of the other nations (comp. Dan. x. 13) and particularly with the angel Samael, Israel's accuser. According to rabbinic Jewish tradition, Michael's enmity with Samael dates from the time when the latter was thrown.
