Gilbert Islands

The Gilbert Islands are a chain of 16 atolls in the Pacific Ocean, part of the nation Kiribati. Banaba (Ocean Island), is not part of the chain but is included for administrative purposes.

The atolls: Abaiang, Abemama, Aranuka, Arorae, Beru, Butaritari, Kuria, Little Makin, Maiana, Marakei, Nikunau, Nonouti, Onotoa, Tabiteuea, Tamana, Tarawa

The nearby island of Banaba, is geologically not part of the chain, though politically it is. Banaba is actually a mined-out phosphate rock island.
