Nomos

Nomos is a Greek word for province or prefecture (nomOs, νομός), the administrative division immediately below the peripheries of Greece. There are 51 nomoi. A prefect (nomarches) is elected.

Nomos also means "law" (nOmos, νόμος). It is an etymon of astronomy ("laws of the stars")
